The project “Internet and Scientific Communication” explores the impact of a variety of internet technologies on how research is practiced and science is governed today. Our focus is on the diversity of scientific communication as a key institutional aspect of innovative science. How are different technologies affecting:
- the diversity of scientific communication,
- the diversity of access to publications, data, positions and research networks,
- the diversity of the semantic network of the scientific knowledge base itself?
Our approach is to explore possible trajectories by analyzing case studies of well-defined scientific production communities and identifying their style to embed (use) internet technologies and their diversity profile in the most relevant networks of scientific communication. Our goal is to typify trajectories and develop an understanding of the contextual constraints at work.
