Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel (HAB)
The creation of digital editions and digital modelling of various dataformats, semantic searches and the visualisation of data are issues that touch on basic problems common to the diverse disciplines within digital humanities.
The project will analyse cataloguing and indexing projects that rely on metadata and explore how current standards and ontologies can be used for modelling central entities such as persons, corporate bodies and places. If necessary, such standards will be customized, developed furher and applied as test cases within some current HAB projects. The focus will rest on normalizing data in order to allow an exchange between the various projects of the partners involved and enable an integration into existing or future search engines.
The objective is to explore latent semantic networks in order to determine the potential of the new technologies for digital humanities applications.
