A focus of the GCDH's foundational research in text mining lies on the development of computational models for semantics and discourse, including:

  • detecting and analysing figurative language

  • computing discourse relations (aka discourse parsing)

  • computing semantic argument structures (aka semantic role labelling)

  • sentiment analysis

  • named entity recognition and linking
