Christian Wachter studied history and philosophy at the universities of Hamburg and Göttingen. At present, he is doing a PhD in the field of basic research of history.
His emphasis lies on an analytical reflexion of strategies and aims of historical knowledge design and the semantic influence of media of expression on the designed knowledge. Furthermore, he is interested in the impact media have on historians’ working practices and the (self)constitution of historical research in the whole. In this context, his doctoral thesis focuses on digital hypertext and how it should complement typographical text.
Christian Wachter has worked on several museum educational and web projects for the Otto von Bismarck Foundation. In 2012/2013, he was research assistant for a biography project at the Göttinger Institut für Demokratieforschung and in 2013–2015, he was part of the organisation office of the 50. Deutscher Historikertag Göttingen 2014.
In March 2015, he started his work as a graduate assistant on the Curation Project "Sources of the New" ("Quellen des Neuen") of CLARIN-D.
